Cam button is made from billet heat treated steel that has been black oxide coated. Button halves are held together with a snap ring and allow the two halves to ride on a needle thrust bearing and washer assm. Button overall length is .950", button diameter is .875" on the large end, .700" on the smaller end and from the step on the large end to the end is .700".
Because all roller cam lobes are ground flat instead of tapered, like hydraulic or solid cams, Comp Cams provides a means of holding the cam back to the rear of the engine. The cam button rides between the front of the timing gear and the back of the front cover to keep the cam from walking forward in the engine.
Fits small block Chevys with timing chains or Pete Jackson type gear drives.
