These shafts are made of high-quality heat-treated steel for extended reliability. The steel sleeve is pinned to maintain correct alignment between the oil pump and the shaft. For 400 cu. in. Chevy blocks, the hole in the block and rear main cap that the oil pump shaft goes through must be opened up to 9/16” diameter.
