DMPE has forever changed the roots supercharger game with there new M5 14-71 hi-helix supercharger. What is so different you may ask? Well my friends grab a seat and we are going to give you the low down on this engineering marvel.
First off the entire blower is 3D modeled and machined so there is no where on this entire blower that doesn't have some 3D machine work which results in a blower that is eleven pounds lighter than a Kobelco 14-71 with three and half pounds of that being rotating weight.
DMPE realized that a racers needs may change and what would be better if they could change the blower with there needs with out having to buy another complete supercharger. Many times in classes there will be overdrive restrictions put in place over the course of the year or a racer might switch from a low overdrive class and go to a class where high overdrive is allowed. The blower case is modular which means the top insert on the case as well as the bottom insert on the case are removable and allow the racer to change top and bottom openings as they see fit for the class they are running in.
The blower includes a hat spacer and a 14.2 blower restraint that are port matched to the inlet of the blower so there is a smooth unobstructed flow into the top of the blower to give the racer the most horsepower and boost. The blower restraint is just the top plate and five SFI approved straps. If the racer would like to purchase a blower bag or header brackets and pins those can be purchased separate.
The hat spacer is made from billet alum. and moves the injector up and forward making the transition into the blower smoother and creating a ram effect on the air. The spacer is O-ringed and can be ordered to fit 13.250" between bolt center injectors or the newer spread front bolt pattern injector.
Now down inside the blower we go. The rotors are 19.00" long billet hard anodized 120 degree hi helix rotors that are 5.840" in dia. that are teflon stripped on the sides and on the tips to seal the rotors to the case and against one another. The rotors are plugged on the ends with nylon plugs to provide more boost and the steel heat treated shafts ride in precision bearings with double lipped teflon seals. The bearing plates are machined from billet alum. and the 3D machine work on these will leave you speechless. There are teflon strips on the bearing plates to help seal the blower up and keep all your precious air down in the engines and not trying to sneak back up into the blower creating heat. The racer gets there choice of a 5.375" or 7.375" blower snout assm. when they purchase the supercharger. The blower case has been drilled 1/8" pipe for cooling nozzles and the entire assm. is black anodized.
